Krivoy Rog

Krivoy Rog is one of the largest industrial cities in Ukraine. It’s located in the upper reaches of the river Ingulets in Dnepropetrovsk region. An interesting feature of the Krivoy Rog is the fact that this city is also one of the longest cities in the world. From north to south it extends to a distance of 126 kilometers, and its width - from 20 to 46 kilometers.
In the 17th century the Zaporozhian Cossacks founded zimovnik, which later developed into a settlement, which became the Krivoy Rog. The first written reminder of the city dates back to the year 1775. Then Krivoy Rog was not called the city, but it was a post office, built on the orders of the Cossacks ataman Peter Kalnyshevsky.
Krivoy Rog infrastructure is very well developed - there are lots of places to spend time with interest, to relax and have fun. It is worth noting that there are three theaters - a puppet theater, Taras Shevchenko Drama and Musical Comedy theatre and theater of music and the visual arts "Academy movement." Also in Krivoy Rog there is a circus and historical museum.
The historical part of the city, called the Central-city area was originally considered as the center of Krivoy Rog. However, with the rapid development of trade infrastructure, the center was forced to move to a so-called "Sotsgorod" – Social city. There you will find the main road junctions, office buildings, City Hall, and various shopping malls and restaurants, cafes and nightclubs.
Krivoy Rog is also interesting in that its iron ore mine is one of the largest in the world. Its depth reaches 400 meters, length - more than 3 kilometers, width - 2.5 kilometers. Iron ore mine of Southern Mining and Processing Plant has become a place of interest for Ukrainian and foreign tourists.
There in Krivoy Rog is also a unique museum of mining equipment. All exhibits are located in the open area, and everyone can see them. As for excursions, you should go to the botanical garden, where you can not only learn a great deal, but also to have a picnic in special places.
About interesting architectural monuments worth pointing Transfiguration Cathedral, built in the Ukrainian Baroque style. This religious building with 9 domes had been built for 12 years.
In Krivoy Rog there is a lot of interesting things - boat station, high-speed tram, light dynamic fountain and many others, but it is all worth it to see with your own eyes.
